Skillful Steps is a modern nonprofit committed to ending generational poverty and reducing recidivism by creating real pathways to economic mobility for people returning from incarceration. We help individuals with criminal records build sustainable careers in trucking through fully funded CDL training, weekly stipends, and up to five years of support after graduation.
Many existing reentry and training programs in our region have reached capacity, been paused, or run out of funding—leaving countless justice-involved individuals without access to support. Skillful Steps was created to fill that critical gap. We step in where others have paused—providing opportunity, access, and dignity to those ready for a second chance.
Our mission is to provide a pathway to economic stability through employment and job retention services. Our vision is to create equitable opportunities for dignified employment, ensuring that every individual has a chance to thrive in the workforce. We aspire to build a community where everyone can access the tools and support necessary to achieve their career goals and contribute meaningfully to society
